AutoMap Privacy Policy

This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their 'Personally Identifiable Information' (PII) is being used online. PII, as described in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context. Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our website.

What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

We collect no personal information, however in order to use our phone apps and webpages, your business IT administrator will setup your business account using your email as your user login name.  During the running of the App, for security purposes, the phone number of the device running the app is used to determine which device is requesting access.  Details such as the phone number are never released to other companies and will never by used to call the phone for any purpose.

The GPS location of the phone is sometimes used while running the AutoMap Locate App.  When a tracker is detected, the current location of the phone is stored with the information from the tracker.  This process will often be while the App is in background mode.

When do we collect information?

We store your email address as your username when your business IT administrator creates your account.

How is the phone's GPS information used?

While the AutoMap Locate App is running in the foreground and in the background, if the app detects an AutoMap Tracker, then the current GPS location of the phone is sent with the Tracker information to AutoMap servers.  This information is linked to the vehicle information to which that Tracker is installed in order to pinpoint the location of the vehicle.

The GPS location of the phone is used and saved only while the phone is close to an active AutoMap Tracker.  When the phone is no longer near an AutoMap Tracker, then the GPS location of the phone is no longer used.  Typical detection range of an AutoMap Tracker is within 20 yards, but in unusual instances the range could extend to 200 yards.  Only the strongest Tracker signal will result in saving the location of the phone and thus the location of the vehicle.

The user’s location is not stored nor given to any other company.  Only the location of the trackers is stored.

How do we use your information?

Your email is only used to send you a request to create your password and as your username to login.  The phone number is only used to verify the security access of the device.

How do we protect your information?
