What The Forecast?!! Android Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 20, 2022
What The Forecast?!! does not collect or store personally identifying information. When you first install and launch the app, you will be asked to allow What The Forecast?!! to access your location. Clicking the “Allow” button enables the app to send your latitude and longitude coordinates to the AerisWeather servers each time a weather request is made for your current location. Once your location is transmitted, the current forecast for that location will be downloaded automatically to your device. In addition, your latitude and longitude is used by the Google Places API to find the city and state to which those coordinates pertain. On Android 10.0 and later devices, you need to click “Allow all the time” for the app to work properly, even when closed. Clicking “Allow only while using the app” will allow the app to use your location, but it won’t work properly when it’s closed (in the background). None of the information sent to the AerisWeather servers or the Google Places API is personally identifiable.
The ads displayed in the app may transmit ad clicks and page views. This information helps the app make a little money, allowing Night Cat Productions LLC to offer the app for free. The information is anonymous and cannot be used to identify What The Forecast?!! users.
What The Forecast?!! conforms to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you live in the European Union (EU), you will be presented with an automatic in-app option to opt out of interest based ads.
What The Forecast?!! conforms to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you are a California resident and would like to "Opt out of Interest-Based Ads,” you can do so in the device Settings app. Here is how you do it:
On Android 6.0 or higher:
Open the device Settings app.
Search for "Google" and tap on it.
Tap on the “Ads” option.
Toggle the “Opt out of Ads Personalization” switch to ON.
Android 5.1 or lower:
Open the device Settings app.

Tap on "Google."
Tap on "Manage your Google Account" (This will open up a new page with your Account information).
Tap on "Data & Personalization."

Tap on "Go to Ad settings."
Toggle the "Ad Personalization" switch to OFF.
When you have opted out of interest based ads using the settings on a device, AppLovin and its partners will not use in-app information collected from that device to infer your interests or serve ads to that device that are targeted based on your inferred interests. Please note that while opting out limits the collection of information to serve you ads based on your inferred interests, it does not prevent you from receiving ads from AppLovin or third parties. For further information, please review AppLovin’s Privacy Policy.
When this app is in use (or running in the background) and the current location feature is enabled, we collect and share with our business partners certain device and location data: Precise location data of the device, WiFi signals or Bluetooth Low Energy devices in your proximity, device-based advertising identifiers, app names and/or identifiers, and information about your mobile device such as type of device, operating system version and type, device settings, time zone, carrier, and IP address.
That data may be used for the following purposes: (a) to customize and measure ads in apps and other advertising; (b) for app and user analytics; (c) for disease prevention, and cybersecurity; (d) for market, civic or other research regarding aggregated human foot and traffic patterns, and (e) to generate proprietary pseudonymized identifiers tied to the information collected for the above purposes.
How To Opt Out: To opt-out of Outlogic’s data collection, (1) follow the instructions in Outlogic’s Privacy Policy, or (2) for a platform-based opt-out of interest-based or “personalized” advertising, go to your device settings and opt out of interest-based or personalized advertising: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization. You may also prevent location from being collected by this or other apps through your location permission settings.
If you are a California resident, you have the option to refuse the sale of your information. A Do Not Sell My Information link is presented in a dialog when you first install the app. Following the link and filling out the form with your advertising ID prevents the collection of information from the device associated with that advertising ID. This is in compliance with CCPA rules.
If you live in the EU, you are given an automatic in-app choice to allow or deny the collection of your information by Outlogic, Inc. This is in compliance with GDPR rules.
Finally, What The Forecast?!! uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect information on app crashes and Facebook Analytics to collect statistics on app usage. Facebook Analytics helps Night Cat Productions LLC create Facebook ads that promote the app. This data for both services is collected anonymously and cannot be used to identify users.
