What is personally identifiable information?
"Personally identifiable information" is any information that can be used to identify or contact a specific individual, such as a name, address, telephone number or e-mail address obtained in connection with providing products and services to you. It includes information provided by you, obtained by us, or resulting from your transactions with us or others. It does not include information available to the general public or "aggregate information" which is information that does not allow us to identify or contact a specific individual such as demographic information, purchase categories (e.g., auto insurance), or visitors using a particular browser to access the Website or users using a particular type of mobile telephone to access the App.
What types of personally identifiable information does Alfa collect on the Website or the App?
We collect personally identifiable information from the following sources:
Visitors to the Website or users of the App,
Information we receive from you on applications, quotes, or forms in various formats,
Information about your transactions with us, or
Information you grant permission to collect, such as a consumer report.
The information we collect could include, among other things, information to validate your identity or location, information to adjust, settle, or investigate your claims, your claims history, billing and payment information, and coverage selections. Consumer reporting agency information is generally used in conjunction with the application or quote process. It may include motor vehicle reports, and information from a consumer report or investigative consumer report.

Does Alfa collect any other information about visitors to the Website or user of the App?
We constantly seek to maintain the integrity of, and make improvements to, the Website and the App. As part of these efforts, we collect and analyze certain aggregate information about how visitors use the Website and users use the App, as stated below. When you visit our Website or use our App, we may collect various types of technical data including but not limited to IP addresses, browser and platform types, domain names of your access provider, access times, referral data (the last site or URL you visited before logging into our site or App and the first site or App or URL you visit after leaving our site or App), and/or your activity while using or reviewing our site or App.
We also use "cookies" or other similar technologies to gather statistical information concerning Web or App traffic and usage patterns. Cookies are small pieces of information our server places on a visitor's web browser to enable that person to more easily communicate and interact with the Website or App and to provide us with important information on how visitors use the Website or users use the App. While a code in the cookie file enables the site to label you as a particular user, it does not identify you by name or address unless you have provided the site with such information or set up preferences in your browser to do so automatically. Cookies allow us to evaluate what our customers want, provide adequate capacity for our visitors or App users, display information in the best manner, select a preferred location view or default home page view, and to let you access recently visited links (such as products, services, and individual Alfa Company pages) or use mobile access tools more easily. Although many Web browsers or Apps are automatically set to accept cookies, you may change your settings to either reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is about to be placed on your computer or mobile device. Please note, however, that rejecting cookies while visiting the Website or using the App may result in certain parts of the Website or App not operating correctly or as efficiently as if they were allowed. In addition, we may use "pixel tags," "web beacons," "clear GIFs" or similar means (collectively, "Pixel Tags") embedded in the Website's content to collect data or in the App. A Pixel Tag is an electronic image, often a single-pixel (1x1), which is ordinarily not visible to Website visitors or used of the App and may be associated with cookies on the visitors' computer or mobile phone browser. The data we collect includes but is not limited to which operating system and browser you use, how you navigate to and through our websites or App screens, and how long you stay on our web pages or App screens. This information is anonymous and does not include your name, e-mail address or any other contact information. Please note that certain aggregate information may be linked with personally identifiable information. Any such linked information will be treated as personally identifiable information for the purposes of this Policy as long as it is so linked.
More specifically for App Users
Information collected:
Page views and taps – collected to allow for screen coordination within the App; to see how a user interacts with the App (examples: when you tap to add a photo, the photo is uploaded and the next screen appears; you tap the Hamburger menu (3 line icon) and then the menu appears; to see which screens are visited most within the App to aid in App design in the future)
Installed apps – collected for location purposes so the App can know what map app you have on your phone and can interact with it to provide you with a location to an agent’s office or other location services offered within the App
Crash Log Data –collected if your App crashes on your device and not for vehicle accident purposes; allows us to analyze the reason for the App crash and try to prevent it from reoccurring (example: how many times your App has crashed)

This data collection takes place both on our Website or the App and on third-party websites that participate in the ad networks. Many of these third parties have opt-out mechanisms for their ad cookies. For more information about interest-based advertising, and your ability to opt out of this type of advertising by third parties that participate in self-regulatory programs, please visit the Network Advertising Initiative and/or the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2&lang=EN).
We may use certain analytics tools provided by third parties on our Website or the App, such as Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information regarding how visitors use the Website or the App and the effectiveness of the Website or the App to help us improve and optimize the Website or the App and products and services we offer.
