VCpay Privacy Policy

  1. Net1 Mobile Solutions (Pty) Ltd (“Net1”, “we”, “us” or “our”), registration number 2006/009851/07, a duly registered limited liability company in South Africa and Authorised Financial Services Provider with License Number 46067, and/or our holding company, affiliated or associated companies, our successors or assignees or the product provider, requires personal information from you in order to give you access to the VCpay product and process transactions performed using the service.

2. The information so required includes:

2.1. Registration information:

  • Title
  • First name
  • Surname
  • ID number
  • Mobile number
  • Email address

2.2. The application will capture the device details:

  • IMEI number
  • Make
  • Model

2.3. Funding:

  • Personal credit card details

2.4. User contacts

3. The information required will be collected in the following manner:

3.1. Upon registration data will be captured IE: Title, First Names, Surname, ID number, Address, Mobile Number and Email.

3.2. Credit card used to top up your account is captured in one of two ways: Scan your card using the phone camera and/or manually enter the card details.

3.3. The phone details collect are stored for user statistical purposes.

3.4. User contact list details: The application will ask the user for permission to access the
contact list

4. The information collected will be used to:

4.1. Compliance with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, No 38 of 2001 (FICA)

4.2. Credit your account with the necessary funds

4.3. Process and reconcile payments

4.4. Allow the user to share cards to the various contacts in the contact list

5. Net1 may also use this information to provide you with information regarding our products, services, or events from time-to-time.

6. You may request that Net1 cease sending you such information or request that your personal information be removed from our database or mailing list at any time. Note that we may be required to suspend any services or access to the VCpay product in such instance.

7. Net1 will not disclose any personal information to anyone except as provided for in this policy.

8. We may need to disclose personal information to Net1’s employees or agents and the product provider, Grindrod Bank Limited, who require such information to carry out their functions in order to provide you with the VCpay service and process transactions. There may also be situations where the law requires us to disclose your personal information. In all other situations, except in the case of the sale of Net1 or its associated services or web site(s), Net1 will not disclose your personal information without giving you prior notice thereof and an opportunity to give your consent thereto.

9. Net1 makes use of first-party cookies (including the Google Analytics cookie) to collect website analytics data, and also makes use of third-party cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to deliver targeted display advertising to our website visitors based on their browsing and search activity on the Net1 website.

10. No personal information is shared with Google or DoubleClick in order to deliver targeted advertising.

11. If you prefer not to receive interest-based advertising in web browsers from Google, you can always click the “Opt out” button on the Ads Preferences Manager (https://www.google.com/ads/preferences/?hl=en). After you opt out, Google will not collect interest category information and you will not receive interest-based ads via Google when accessing the web through a web browser.

13. Net1 is not responsible for and gives no warranties or makes any representations in respect of the privacy policies or practices of linked or any third party or advertised web sites.
